Back in Tokyo

There is a special place in heaven for the person who invented the Japanese Baked Cheese Tart

Hawaiian Garlic Prawns for breakfast - because it was either this or an Australian Meat Pie (I couldn't find a Japanese breakfast anywhere near Disney)

Mmmmmm fresh Tofu for dinner (with gyozas, but I ate them too fast and forgot to take a photo)

Vietnamese Pho for lunch

In our hotel room there are instructions that in the case of a fire we are to fill this plastic bag with air and put it over our head. I've never seen anything like this before.

Our train was 1 minute late!!!

This is an ingenious solution to a drip in the train station

This is how we are currently travelling - not so light

Last Disney Day

Today we went to DisneySea and Disneyland, and had a ball

Mochi time - I really am a responsible adult, just not at Disney

J, L & A on Splash Mountain

A man and his balloon - it made finding him and the wheelchair a lot easier

S was VERY happy he got A to go and watch the Country Bear Jamboree (Christmas Show)

J, L, H & C all went on to the next stop on their Japan adventure (A is travelling with us for a few days extra). It has been wonderful to have the time to travel and experience Japan together.

After Star Tours - only a little bit queezy from the space hyperjumps

A little bit of Venice at DisneySea

Stitch

This little girl was delightful - she spent the whole train ride hi-fiving S. Because he has Mickey ears on (the Mickey beanie) and Mickey hands (gloves) she was convinced that S was Mickey and loved interacting with him. Her mum was very grateful and the little girl had a ball. It's hard not to be in a good mood when you have little things like this happening around you.

This is very clever. A tag sits out when the toilet stall is free so you can see easily down the corridor which toilets are free. We've seen these in a few public bathrooms in Japan and think it is very clever (but they still need to put in some way to dry your hands after you've washed them).

Strawberry, vanilla and chocolate mochi for morning tea

Tempura and gyu-udon for lunch

One of the kids breakfasts at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

Another breakfast at Tokyo Disneyland hotel - including a Mickey shaped fish cake.

Bread roll with Mickey Mouse ears on the side

We can see our hotel from the train station

A took us out for dinner to celebrate our birthdays

We got S on a roller coaster!!!  Thunder Mountain Railroad

A random dropping of streamers on Disney Main Street - it was a lot of fun watching everyone try and catch them

21, 297 steps of fun

Tokyo Disney & a 50th Birthday celebration

Today we spent the day at Tokyo Disneyland and celebrated S's 50th birthday

The T-shirt says it all

A & C in the line for Pooh's Hunny Hunt

We were really lucky - a cast member at Star Tours gave us a special present - a chance to get a photo with Mickey Mouse. Mickey spent some time with us which was lovely and made sure everyone got a hug, even those who were trying to avoid it.

With the gift from the Star Tours cast member came this "medal" so that everyone in the park would know we were special.

This is us with the kind cast member who gave us the gift - it was such a thoughtful present, we felt very grateful

Cinderella's Castle

I don't think I could get away with grooming standards like this at work, but it would be fun

Our snack today - Chocolate filled Koalas

It is pretty cold here - this lady was scraping ice off the bench seats in the morning

J, L & A went on the GoGoGadget Coaster

I loved this poster at Mickey's PhiloMagic

Everything is themed so well at Disney - this is an emergency external defribulator in Toontown

Pooh (& S) in his thoughtful spot

Straight after we had been on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - it was a great rollercoaster and a lot of fun

This was the line for the Small World ride....

S loves his Mickey Mouse gloves

A sign in the bathoom to get people to wash their hands - I like that it is a positive message

The toilet has a speaker which plays the sound of running water so that the people around you can't hear any bodily functions....

J putting together the Advent Calendar

These are strawberry and cream sandwiches in the convenience store in our hotel

Sweet Potato pastry and Chocolate Muffin for morning tea

Chocolate Muffin, sausage roll (a sausage in puff pastry), Melon Pan (Melon bread in the shape of one of the characters from Monster's Inc), and a cherry and custard Mikey pastry

Minnie Mouse Pafait (small size, so it is a mini parfait)
More disney pastries - I would love to do a master pastry class at Disney, but I suspect they don't have them

Cheese is very expensive in Japan so we were surprised to see this - cheese and sausage - it was excellent

This is fruit in jelly in the hotel convenience store - I thought they were pretty

We weren't sure what these were, but the box was cute

We had a family dinner at the Canna Restaurant in Tokyo Disneyland Hotel. It wasn't worth putting up photos - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, and given the prices they were charging, that was a huge shame. On the plus side they made a lovely dessert for Stephen's 50th birthday.

It was a long day, but a lot of fun
