We had time to kill in Istanbul airport, so sampled some of the local beers and cocktails :-)
Kayseri airport reminded us a bit of Port Macquarie Airport - especially when we had to go to the luggage trolley on the tarmac to get Hannah's wheelchair :-) The wheelchair case is doing a brilliant job of protecting the wheelchair - thanks Guru Dave :-)
The bill for dinner arrived in this cute little box :-)
We stayed in the Courtyard Cave Hotel, which is by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in - the rooms were in caves (!), and the service was unbelievably helpful and friendly - we felt like we were staying with long lost friends, not in a hotel - it was perfect. www.courtyardcavehotel.com
The attention to detail in the hotel was amazing, with pieces of art everywhere.
This is Connor in the guest outdoor seating area - there was also a lounge, a bar/patio & a shared kitchen.
Turkey really is a mix of old and new - this is the road in to town from the back of the hotel (at the front of the hotel it is paved)
The caves in the hillsides were impressive, and just across the road and down the road - we were surrounded by an amazing natural wonder
This is the view from the patio/roof of the courtyard cave hotel - so beautiful
Nikki, Steve & Jacqui went and had some time at a traditional turkish bath - here is the heated marble that they massage and wash you on - it was very relaxing, and reminded us a lot of the hot springs in Japan which we were lucky enough to visit last year. Thankfully we didn't have a big turkish man washing us, but a lovely a trio of African Turkish ladies (who mostly let us keep our swimmers on).
